Obama yesterday, in a small town in Ohio. "Let me tell you, so long as I have the privilege of serving as your president, I'll never stop fighting for you. I'll take my lumps, too. I'll never stop fighting to bring jobs back to Elyria. I'll never stop fighting for an economy where hard work is rewarded, where responsibility is honored, where accountability is upheld, where we're creating the jobs of tomorrow." Sometimes I wonder if Obama imagines those opposed to him are fighting for an economy where hard work is punished, where responsibility is mocked, where accountability is jettisoned, and where we're creating the jobs of yesterday.

The Tiger Woods soap opera bring a question or two to mind. What does sex addiction rehabilitation consist of? Does this "addiction" even exist?

Remember this baloney?

Wouldn't it have been great if we could have watched some of these negotiations live on television? Like the negotiations on the "Cadillac health care plan" tax, for instance. Contrary to the implications of the nickname,if you have a good job, or you're a reasonably successful self-employed individual, there is a high probability that your health care insurance will be deemed a Cadillac, even if you drive a Volkswagen.

But, wait! A huge chunk of the Democratic base - members of the SEIU, the AFL-CIO, the NEA - have Cadillac plans. And the proposed tax on those plans is a ruthless forty percent. Sure, the employer pays it; it doesn't come out of their paychecks. But for once - on this issue - the unions have overcome their usual economic illiteracy/innumeracy, and realized that their employers couldn't afford both the plans and the taxation vig.

What to do? Well, there were negotiations, I assume. The result of those negotiations? This: if you're part of the Dem's constituency, your employer doesn't have to pay!

I would have loved to watch that deal hammered out on C-SPAN.

Update: Mickey Kaus suggests that the deal is supposed to promote unionization.
