Remember Bushisms? That smirking Slate column by the smug Jacob Weisberg that ridiculed the President's command of the language? Well, the joke's on them. They cancelled the column just as the the supply of malapropisms suddenly increased, i.e., when the Presidency changed hands. Latest example:

.
"Internationally, we've gone through a Teutonic shift in the Middle East that could have enormous ramifications for years to come."

Just a slip of the tongue, says the USA Today story. Really? You're talking about a guy who knows so little Teutonic history that he thinks there's a language known as "Austrian."

But wait, there's more. The White House issues a written transcript of Obama's remarks, making what the staff seems to believe is the obvious correction:

"Internationally, we've gone through a **Teutonic [tectonic] shift in the Middle East that could have enormous ramifications for years to come." Tectonic?
